Jason Orleans

Partner

Jason Orleans is a founding partner of the law firm of Orleans Canty Novy, LLC, a Chicago-based firm that provides civil litigation services. Jason focuses his practice on transportation and logistics law, insurance coverage, casualty defense, and cargo-related litigation claims under the Carmack Amendment to the Interstate Commerce Act. He also provides skilled representation in all matters related to transportation contracts.

An experienced litigator, Jason's areas of practice include trial work in Federal and State Courts, including appellate courts, as well as the Illinois Court of Claims. In 2021, he was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He also assists clients whose cases are being handled in private mediation and arbitration. In addition, Jason is a Certified Arbitrator for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit of Illinois.

Jason earned his Juris Doctorate from the Kent College of Law in Chicago in 1998. Prior to that, he graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1995, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa. He is a Representative at Large and member of the Executive Committee for the Transportation Lawyers' Association (TLA). Additionally, he serves as the Co-Chair of the TLA's Freight Claims Committee. He is also a member of the Conference of Freight Counsel.
